Morning year 5, I hope you’ve had a lovely Half Term and made the most of the beautiful weather we have had.

 

This week is our last week on our topic ‘Beast Creator’ and I know you have loved completing all the fun tasks set.

 

Your new topic starting on the week commencing 8th June is ‘Alchemy Island’.

I know you’re going to love this one to.

 

 

This Week

 

  • I have added a new homework menu (Look at the starters, mains and desserts activities added onto seesaw which explains some of the tasks and gives you a little guidance)
  • Your Math activities have been set on Active learn. Also, there are many fun interactive activities to explore on Maths Factor.
  • I have added two Giglets books for you to read this week. 
  • Have a look at the fun activities that are set on BBC bitesize – I have attached the year 5 and Year 6 daily lesson weekly timetable. Have a look at the Year 6 sessions if you want to challenge yourselves – Give them a go.

 

As always, complete as much work as you can and please send me a message/note on Seesaw if you have any problems with the work or if you are unsure of anything.

Great work again last week year 5 – I’ve seen you’re all having so much fun with the activities set which is great. Was lovely to see so many of you using the outdoors.

 

I am adding tasks every Monday and sometimes during the week.  There is no need to feel like you have to hurry to do everything. Choose a task and spend time to read the instructions carefully and think about what you need to do. As you are online, take the time to research more information to help you understand the learning, further. 

 

 

This Week

 

  • I have added a new homework menu (Look at the starters, mains and desserts activities added onto seesaw which explains some of the tasks and gives you a little guidance)
  • Your Math activities have been set on Active learn. Also, there are many fun interactive activities to explore on Maths Factor.
  • I have added two Giglets books for you to read this week. The only tasks on your giglets are the tasks you have not completed yet – all completed work has been looked at.
  • Have a look at the fun activities that are set on BBC bitesize – I have attached the year 5 and Year 6 daily lesson weekly timetable. Have a look at the Year 6 sessions if you want to challenge yourselves – Give them a go.

We had another great week of learning last week. I’ve been very impressed with your commitment and enthusiasm. I’ve learnt so much from your research on deadly critters.

  • I’ve added another 3 math activities for you to complete.
  • Have a go at the BBC Bitesize lessons – the daily lessons plan is on seesaw for you too.
  • I have added two Giglets books for you to read this week and don’t forget there are lots of maths games on Activelearn too.

Hi Year 5,

 

Welcome back. I hope you have had a lovely Easter and spent lots of time with your loved ones.

 

I have added new learning activities onto here and Seesaw so that we can continue with our learning at home.

 

Our topic this term is “Beast Creator” Take a look at the home learning menu and pupil voice activity to begin with. Then complete two starters, mains and desserts.  I have also added maths and English activities.  There are new books on Giglets and new maths games on ActiveLearn too. 

 

You can complete your work on seesaw/google/HWB.

 

Remember, you don’t need to complete everything this week and if there are any problems or if you don’t understand anything please send me a message on seesaw and I will get back to you.

TERM 2 - WORLD WAR 2

Monday 30th March

 

Bore da Year 5,

 

I hope you are all well and staying safe at home. It has been lovely to see all of your home learning activities as well as the extra fun you have been having at home.

 

This would have been our last week in school before the Easter break so some of this week’s additional activities are linked to Holy Week. All activities have been added to seesaw on the activities tab.

 

I have attached homework menu 2 below.

 

Remember to use Giglets. I have added another two books and activities today.

 

I have also uploaded the answers to the reading, procedural and reasoning test papers that were sent home in your home learning pack as well as answers to the maths sheets. Let me know if there are any problems with these.

 

I have added 3 homework worksheets on to abacus for you and added many games to keep you occupied.

 

Please keep sending me your work through seesaw, google and HWB. If you have any problems send me a message on seesaw and I will reply on there.

TERM 1 - RUGBY WORLD CUP

 

 


Our topic this term is The Rugby World Cup

 

Our R.E. topic is Ourselves 

 

Reading books need to be in class every day.

 

P.E.: P.E. kit needs to be worn every Monday

Week Beginning: 14/10/19

 

In English, we started our new genre of writing which is newspaper reports. This week we looked at the features of a newspaper report, complete some hot seating activities and began planning to write our own based on the clip ‘The Lighthouse’. We have worked super hard this week on improving handwriting and presentation skills. 
 

In maths, we have been learning about date handling. We have looked into different types of graphs, interpreting graphs and also drawing them. We have also been developing our CLIC skills. 

 

In R.E. we discussed the Christian Mission and how we ensure to follow it. Also, we designed a series of interview questions which shall be used at a ‘job interview’ for the post of ‘Follower of Jesus’.

 

We inputted our information of planning a trip to Japan on to google sheets and learnt many new features and skills.

 

In science, we completed an experiment recording our heart rate doing different exercises and we started writing up our science report.

Next Week

 

In English, we will be doing further planning and will begin write our newspaper reports. In maths, we will be picking up on our CLIC test and problem solving with money. In our topic, we will be writing a leaflet on our chosen RWC country trying to encourage people to visit.
 

Friday 25thOctober is an INSET day for children.

Here’s to a fun filled last week of our first half of term 1.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week Beginning: 07/10/19

 

In English, we have continued to edit and improve our balanced arguments and started to think about our next piece of writing. We have worked super hard this week on improving handwriting and presentation skills. 
 

In maths, we have been learning about area and perimeter, looking at area and perimeter of compound shapes, triangles and parallelograms. We have also been developing our CLIC skills. 

 

In R.E. we have started our new topic ‘Life Choices’. We looked at our big question is commitment important? And thought about the commitment people show in their lives. 

 

We planned our own trips to Japan and had great fun learning new tricks on google sheets ready to input this information next week.
 

In science, we looked at what our resting heart rate is and created a class graph to display our results. 

 

Next Week

In English, we will develop our skills of writing a newspaper report. In maths, we will be drawing and extracting data from graphs. In our topic, we will be completing our data sheets and making our rugby shirts. Please remember a white shirt to decorate. 
 

Wear yellow on Friday too! 

Week Beginning: 30/09/19

 

Year 5 have worked really hard this week.

 

In English, we have planned and started to write a balanced argument on the uses of the internet.

 

In Maths, we have looked at measures of length, weight and capacity. We have been converting measures, reading scales and calculating the increments in which they increase. 

 

In R.E. we continued to look at our qualities and talents and how we can make use of these in our lives and to help others. As we have come to the end of our topic we have thought about how we will take our learning forward and also answered our big question again "Who am I?"

  

Thank you for coming to support us in the Harvest Festival. We used our pupil voice to decide upon our song and costumes. We hope you enjoyed.

 

It has been lovely to see some homework being brought in – keep up the great work.

Next Week

We will continue to write our balanced arguments. In maths, we will be looking at calculating area and perimeter. In RE, we will start our new topic on Life Choices with the big Question being ‘Is commitment important?’ We will also be planning a trip to Japan and using our ICT skills to input data onto a spreadsheet.
