Year 5 have had a busy week so far.
In maths, we have calculated fractions of amounts, looked at adding and subtracting fractions and completed lots of CLIC maths activities.
In science, we looked at our new topic 'Plants for Life' We have looked at the important parts of a plant and looked at parts of a flower. More to follow on this next week.
In English, we have looked at discussion texts. We have identified the features of a discussion text and looked at for and against arguments.
In topic, we have continued to take trips around Alchemy Island and focused on coordinates.
We also used Seesaw to upload some of our learning.
It has been lovely to see homework being brought into school. Please continue to send it in when it is completed.
I have added maths sheets and activities below that can be used to support learning from class. I have also allocated maths games and activities online (activelearn) as well as bug club books. Please see me if you can't get access.
Week Beginning July 16th
Year 5 have worked conscientiously all year. This week they have answered quiz questions about what they have learned this year and written a story on their 'Fantasy Beast Top Trump' creation. It has been a pleasure to teach all the pupils this year and I wish them all the success for the future.

Year 5 have continued to work well this week. In Maths children have been solving 'murder mystery' investigations through using various mathematical computations and strategies. We have also looked at Sudoku challenges! In Science we have continues to investigate food chains and food webs and studying how different habitats effect how these work. We have also looked at how certain animals have adapted their physiology to live in certain environments. We have played rounders in PE and also studied the 5 pillars of Islam.

Year 5 have continued to work well this week. In English they have been producing their own imaginative stories with a focus on using VCOP strategies (vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation). In Maths they have been looking at a summary of all the work we have been doing in maths this term. In Science we have been investigating food chains and food webs and studying how different habitats effect how these work. We have also examined the effects of removing a consumer or producer from the food chain/web. Year 5 also took part in Sports Day. They took part collectively and individually and performed extremely well. Well done Year 5!
