December / Rhagfyr

Advent

As we enter the season of Advent, as a class, we changed our altar cloth to purple. We also collectively chose what else to put on our altar and had a discussion about why those items should be there.

Careers Fair

What a fantastic afternoon for Blwyddyn Pump!

Thank you to everyone who came to learn about our future careers: mums, dads, grandparents and even the Year 1 and 2 pupils. The hall was bursting!

Everyone worked so hard and it was amazing to see all their efforts pay off.

From palaeontologist to pilots, from teachers to singers, from footballers to doctors, from tech engineers and game developers to zookeepers and so many more. We have some exciting jobs in Year 5’s future.

Significant Women - Mary, Miriam and Hannah

We ended our term of Re lessons by focusing on significant women. We compared what had been written about Mary in Luke's Gospel and our knowledge, with the role of Miriam (Moses) and Hannah. Dosbarth Porffor had a fantastic discussion and created this comparison to show what we had learned.

Bristol Zoo Project

All pupils ready and positive before they enter Bristol Zoo Project! Mrs Taylor might have been more excited than Dosbarth Porffor

Did the den protect them?

As part of our trip, we took park in Team Building Challenges.

Firstly, pupils had to arrange themselves in order from January birthdays to December birthdays. However, they were not allowed to talk!

Secondly, pupils worked in groups of four create a den that would protect them from the rain.

Finally, everyone worked together to get from one side of a 3-by-3 grid to the other, ensuring that at least one person passed through each square! Some pupils really showed off their strength and teamwork was definitely developed across both classes.

We explored the many areas of Bristol Zoo Project: looking at the animals and listening to the experts.

Even though the Bears were hibernating, we had a fantastic day of learning!

Grwp Oren decided to have lunch at the Explorers Basecamp! Even Miss Harris went down the slide.

A brilliant day had by all, exploring, playing and learning. The smiles say it all!

Thank you so much to all the staff who attended and made the trip so special: Mrs Taylor, Mrs Mitrea, Mrs Liffen, Mr Taylor and Mr Williams

It’s not a sign of a great trip if there’s nobody snoozing at the end of it!

Golden Rules and Jesuit Virtues

Headteacher Award - Autumn Term 2

Attendance Awards

What a fantastic achievement for Dosbarth Porffor; almost every pupil achieved 95% or more attendance this half term.

A very special mention to these two pupils who have achieved 100% attendance this half term; a huge improvement. Let’s keep it up in January!

Merry Christmas from Dosbarth Porffor
