✨WELCOME BACK✨

Cymraeg

What a fantastic Welsh lesson. We recapped and learnt new vocabulary on hobbies and places in Welsh!

Can anyone remember what ‘amgueddfa’ means?

Religious Education

As part of Branch 3: Galilee to Jerusalem. PS3 came together to create a map of where Jesus travelled to. In groups, pupils were assigned a ‘tile’ and we will piece the tiles together to create a PS3 map!

Pupils used their creativity to think about textures and colours. All pupils worked hard and they demonstrated a great team effort.

As we learn more over the term, we will add information to the map, we will pin points of significance of Jesus’ journey and we will show off our knowledge!

Mary - Theotokos

Diolch yn fawr Blwyddyn Pedwar.

After conducting research on Mary, we went to share our learning with Year 4. Pupils discussed how we devote our time to Mary, what titles we give to Mary and how Mary is celebrated by Catholics.

Year 4 even impressed us with their knowledge of Mary too!

Nazareth Villages

Pupils were tasked with creating Nazareth Villages. It was great to see the creativity of Dosbarth Porffor, with some pupils using Minecraft, some drawing, some building and even a few pupils using AI.

Nazareth Feast

We enjoyed some delicious food that would have been eaten by the Nazarenes during Jesus’ time. As a class, we tasted flatbread, dried fruits, chicken, cheese, pomegranate, cucumbers, grapes and the fan favourite: olives !!!

Do we like olives?

Some mixed reactions, but I was so impressed with how many of Dosbarth Porffor gave them a try! Da iawn pawb!

These two were BIG fans of olives!!!

LITERACY⭐️

As part of our Literacy streaming session, Miss Harris’ group completed a cold write, where they wrote a children’s story.

At the end of the session, pupils had the opportunity to read other stories and write down what they enjoyed about the story, but also how they think they could improve.

Jubilee Launch Day 2025

After our whole school assembly, Dosbarth Porffor had to answer the question:

What does HOPE means to you?

As the focus of the Jubilee Year is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.

Pupils showed off their creativity by creating posters to honour the Jubilee Year.

We are looking forward to being Pilgrims of Hope this year and tracking our journey.

Pontypridd Fire Station Visit

Diolch yn fawr iawn! Dosbarth Porffor were lucky to have a visit from two firefighter from the Pontypridd Fire Station. They reminded us of lots of important information and we had chance to ask lots of questions.

Two of their favourite questions were:

Why is the number 999?

How long do you work as a firefighter?

I wonder if we have any future firefighters in Dosbarth Porffor!

Good Friend Award

Miss Harris assigned KS2 the task of awarding a good friend certificate to someone in each class. As a class, we have decided to carry on celebrating our Good Friends.

Brilliant Breaktime

Thank you Mr Williams for capturing some of Dosbarth Porffor having a fun time squeezing onto the bench that was actually given to the school by Miss Harris’ dad!

Chinese New Year 🧧

We had a lovely discussion about Chinese New Year and looked at the race of the animals that decided the order of the Zodiac animals.

We learned that pupils born in 2014 were born in the year of the horse and those born in 2015 were born in the year of the ram.
