Week beginning Monday 19th May 2025
This week has been full of exciting learning experiences and special moments of reflection and celebration. We completed our final swimming lessons and took part in our assessments. The children have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks, and it’s been wonderful to see their confidence and swimming skills grow.
We also had a special visit from the RNLI lifeguards, who taught us all about beach safety. We learned how to spot dangers in and around the water, understand the different beach flags, and what to do in an emergency. A very valuable and timely session as summer approaches.
During our math sessions, we continued working with tables, comparing data and solving a variety of real-life problems. The children are becoming much more confident in interpreting and analysing information in preparation for the National Tests after half term.
In literacy, we have been creating informative fact files on Diwali. The children enjoyed learning about the customs and significance of this important Hindu festival and worked hard to present their facts clearly and creatively.
As part of our faith journey, we spent some quiet time in the prayer garden, reflecting and praying to Our Blessed Mother Mary. Together, we took part in the Hail Mary and offered flowers in her honour, marking the month of May with love and reverence.
To end the week, we had the special honour of leading our whole school worship in celebration of the Feast Day of St Philip Neri. Through joyful singing and thoughtful reflection, we shared his story and inspired others with his message of joy, kindness, and faith.
A truly enriching week - well done to everyone for your enthusiasm, and continued commitment to learning and growing together!

It’s been another busy and exciting week in class! The children have continued with their swimming lessons and are becoming more confident in the water with each session. It's wonderful to see their progress and enthusiasm during these lessons.
In maths, we have been focusing on reading, writing, and comparing information in tables. The children have shown great attention to detail and are developing strong data-handling skills.
As part of our RE learning, we have been exploring the role of the Apostles and the significance of the Apostolic mission. The children asked thoughtful questions and made insightful connections as we discussed how the Apostles helped to spread the Christian message.
Fridays continue to be a favourite with our exciting Skills Day! The children took part in:
Problem solving with Miss Wide
Science with Mr Payne
Welsh with Mr Davies
Italian with Señora Pretigianni
It’s fantastic to see the children so engaged across such a wide range of subjects. Well done for another great week!

What a fantastic and busy week we've had in class! This week, the children were excited to begin their swimming lessons. They showed great enthusiasm and confidence in the pool, and we’re already seeing some brilliant progress. Well done, everyone!
We also began practising for Sports Day with Mr Taylor. The children enjoyed getting active outdoors and working on their relay, and team skills. We’re looking forward to seeing their efforts pay off on the big day!
A highlight of the week was our special VE Day 80th Anniversary celebration. Alongside Year 5 and Year 6, we held a street party filled with music, dancing, traditional games, and plenty of cakes, biscuits, and squash! It was a joyful way to mark such a significant event in history.
We ended the week on a high note with our VE Day coffee morning and presentation for parents.
The children proudly shared their learning about key VE Day locations and how these places have changed since 1945. Thank you to all the families who joined us - it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the children’s hard work and research. Well done, everyone, for a week full of learning, fun, and memorable moments!
Week beginning Monday 28th April 2025
What a brilliant start to the summer term! This week, we began using Google Classroom to reflect on our learning from the Autumn and Spring terms as we prepare for our school reports.
As part of our exciting new topic, 'Festivals and Celebrations', we’ve been learning all about VE Day in anticipation of its 80th anniversary next Thursday. We were lucky to be joined by Jo from As Creatives, who led a fantastic workshop exploring how VE Day locations have changed since 1945. We worked in teams to recreate significant buildings and sculptures - our competitive sides definitely came out!
During our maths sessions, we’ve been busy ordering and comparing numbers up to 10,000 through a variety of fun and challenging tasks. As part of our RE sessions, we’ve been learning about St Peter, working in groups to retell the story of the empty tomb from John 20:1–10.
Looking ahead in our topic work, we’ve been using our research skills to investigate the different countries taking part in this year's Women’s Rugby World Cup – a great way to link sport and culture!
We’re also excited to have started Skills Friday again, where we move between classes for special sessions with teachers from Years 3–6. This includes Problem Solving, Welsh, Italian, and Science – lots of great learning opportunities!
Reminder: Swimming lessons start next week – don’t forget your kits!
