First Week Back!
Monday 4th - Friday 8th November
Over the last couple of weeks, we have focused on all things fractions! This week, to visualise things, we use Cuisenaire Rods to help us identify fractions and be able to physically represent fractions and how they are parts of a whole!
This was tricky, but we all worked really hard!
In our PE, our stamina was really put to the test as we did a Bleep Test over 10m. We performed excellently and pushed our limits... even if we looked like tomatoes after it!
Our brand new STEM Club started this week, which is all thanks to Laura from USW! Our theme is Surviving an Asteroid Hit and in our first session we made our own gas masks using plastic bottles, elastic and a face mask! They are amazing and worked so well! We are grateful for the support from Vee, Edima and Taha - the USW Ambassadors!
We continued our BSL work focusing on our sentence patterns, and we focused on 2 new topics which were Sports and Hobbies & Interests - make sure you ask us!

Developing Our Skills!
Monday 11th - Friday 15th November
What a strong start to our week as we finished our first round of Helpwr Heddiw meaning Class Dojo was a big total this week! We started our planning for Balanced Arguments, all about Uniform - should it be banned?
On Thursday, we had a great visit from Clare and Ugochukwu from National Grid where we had a Now>Press>Play session about our Carbon Footprint. We asked loads of questions about their careers, their day-to-day responsibilities and what skills they use the most! We also got to try on their PPE equipment!
On Friday, we celebrated Children in Need by coming to school looking spotty as well as the traditional razzle-dazzle!
Lastly, we had our second STEM Session from USW where we continued our topic of "Surviving an Asteroid Hit" and this time we focused on how to find new food sources as the sun would be gone, which means no plants, no animals... but there would be insects! We made a "Dark World Menu" and even TRIED SOME INSECTS! Check out the video below too!

So Much Going on!
Monday 18th - Friday 29th
Christmas theme is well and truly with us! Not only have we been super focused on our Christmas Concert show, which will be with us before we know it, we have been focusing on our Missions and craft too with awesome work for Christmas baubles and Act of Kindess Advent calendars!
In our Maths, we have been working on co-ordinates, so today, we played BINGO! We focused on writing co-ordinates correctly, placing but also trying to be the first one to win!
This week, we had an amazing visit from Chris and Emma, who led a workshop focusing on circuits and semi-conductors! We had so much fun seeing how our basic drawn circuits act and work in real life. We focused on key vocabulary of components and polarity to support our understanding of how things may or may not work! (See our helicopter video below to see what we mean!)
We had so much fun and even focused on creating our own projects - something that could be used to help people in the real world - ranging from helping shop owners, looking after pets, or even giving disabled people more support in their day-to-day lives!
In our STEM Club this week, we continued our theme of How to Survive an Asteroid Hit where we were measuring the impact of meteorites on Earth's surface. To do this, we had trays of flour and a top layer of cocoa powder to simulate the surface of Earth. We then measured the diameter of different marbles that would be our meteors!
We measured the height and then the size of the crater they left behind! We made predictions and measured the width and depth!
I think it's safe to say, we had fun... but also made a mess!
To finish off this week, we focused on our E-safety and the rules we should follow to make sure we are not in harm's way when it comes to the internet!
We created awesome posters with key rules and pictures using Canva for them to be added to our display, now that our ICT Suite is finally finished - the new PCs are looking great!
We are now getting ready for the last week of practice for our concert, which starts on the 9th!
