Week beginning Monday 16th June 2025
On Monday, we kicked off the week with an exciting Culture Day to celebrate this year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup. The classroom was bursting with colour, flavour, and energy as the children immersed themselves in activities inspired by the 16 nations taking part in the tournament.
The children made a fantastic effort bringing in traditional foods from around the world – from pizza from Italy to sweet pastries from France – we enjoyed sampling dishes from each of the participating countries. It was a delicious way to explore global cultures and appreciate the diversity of the teams involved.
As part of the day, the children created bright and bold flags representing each of the 16 nations and showed off their creativity by designing their very own rugby kits. We also used digital maps to locate the host cities and stadiums involved in the tournament, developing our geography skills along the way. In Maths, we explored stadium capacities and solved real-life number problems linked to ticket sales and crowd sizes – a brilliant example of using numeracy in real-life context!
In our Literacy lessons this week, the children proudly completed our Diwali fact file hot tasks, showcasing their research and explanation writing skills. Everyone worked hard to organise information clearly and present their learning with pride. We then began creating our own beautiful Rangoli patterns using coloured sand as part of our Expressive Arts work, combining creativity with cultural learning.
To round off the week on a high, the children took part in an exciting Rock Steady Ready Assembly on Friday! The energy was electric as pupils enjoyed seeing their teachers become Rockstars for the morning – singing, playing instruments and embracing the stage. It was a brilliant way to end the week, and a great reminder of the joy that music brings to our school community.
Week beginning Monday 9th June 2025
What a fantastic fun-filled week! We loved taking part in Sports Day at Leckwith Stadium, where we gave our all in the sprint, obstacle course, relay, and long jump. It was extra special to have our families and friends cheering us on—thank you for your support!
In class, we’ve been working collaboratively to learn about the Communion of Saints, using our observation, listening, and communication skills to re-create thoughtful posters in our groups.
It’s also been a busy week of National Tests, and we are so proud of how hard everyone has worked. On top of that, we’ve been rehearsing for the St Michael’s Talent Show - we can’t wait to showcase our skills!
Well done, Year 4, for another fantastic week! 🌟
