Vision Week

heart Monday 30th - Friday 4th Octoberheart

What a way to complete our Vision Week this week, celebrating St. Michael and how we focus on ourselves as part of a community. We looked at the story of St. Michael and created lovely artwork as well as Stop Motion videos explaining the story!

We created posters about our school mantra: Faith ~ Action ~ Success! Focusing on what this means and how we can live it!

We looked at our Rights linked to the UNCRC, especially focusing on:

Article 14 - I have the right to my religion, beliefs and thoughts. enlightened

Article 22 - If I am a refugee, I get the same rights as children from Wales and the UK. heart

Article 28 - I have the right to an education. mail

Article 30 - I have the right to learn my own language and follow the customs and beliefs of my family. yes

During this week, we also met our BUDDIES for the first time as we ventured to Nursery! We focused on our prayers to St. Michael in protecting us against the scary things of this world! We had so much fun and so much more appreciation for the work that goes on in Foundation Phase!

We also made videos demonstrating how we're in a Catholic School (see one of our videos below)!

Learning So Many Skills!

enlightenedMonday 7th - Friday 11th Octoberenlightened

During our Science, we had a really interesting investigation focusing on Shadows and our knowledge of light enlightened to solve a crime! We had to solve it just using the height of their shadow! We used stick men outlines, torches and measuring sticks! We used our desks to work their height by converting to centimeters.

As a celebration treat at the end of our Vision Week, we had a production of The Wizard of Oz by M&M Productions. We had a great time and there was even a surprise cast member!

To round off the week, we had Life Saving Skills delivered by Ol! He was great and helped us learn about what to do with cuts, how to apply bandages and, most importantly, how to perform CPR in case of emergencies. We learned how to find the middle of our chests and why we need to use the casualty's hand, not our own, as we could make more damage if we didn't! blush

Looking after One Another

heartMonday 14th - Friday 18th October heart

An amazing start to the week, focusing on the story and timeline of Moses! Our task, in being able to retell the story, allowed us to be super creative! A lot of us took the opportunity to showcase our skills in lots of different ways, especially when it came to make props for it!

On Friday, the First Ministers led their first ever event for the school, collaborating with Show Racism the Red Card where the whole school showed solidarity and our school went from green to red! We learned lots about how the organisation started and why, but also what we can do to make it a better world for everyone! We created some brilliant posters, showcasing our understanding! heart

In our PE, we finished our half term skills sets on co-ordination and collaboration by playing Elephant Football! This focused on our timing, our concentration and speed. We had a brilliant time... even if the ball hit some of us in the face instead of going through our legs! laugh

Finishing Off the Term in Style!

laughMonday 21st - Friday 25th Octoberlaugh

On Monday, a small group of us made our way up to USW for a workshop aimed at our problem-solving and teamwork skills. We had to solve the Zin Obelisk dilemma! We got ourselves into small teams of 2-3 and got to work! We had to decode language, organise information, evaluate and problem-solve! We gave valuable feedback on how to make the problem accessible for other people, and we solved the problem too! We were certainly tired after this one! A massive thank you to Laura for sorting this out for us! We can't wait for the next time!

Whilst we were doing that, the rest of the team were working hard at school creating their own 2D sprite animation that we can use when we make our own games! We were incredibly creative and made everything from Sonic, to the Lorax, to axolotls and even smiley faces that burp out rainbows! A massive thank you to Mr. Taylor for helping us!

We continued our awesome work in RE - Branch 1: Creation and the Covenant as we look at the story of Miriam and the important role that she plays! We love being able to show our creative sides in recreating the events in the Bible!

Lastly, as we go in to our Half Term break, I hope you all have a wonderful rest, and time to enjoy with each other! Make sure you come back safe... you have work to do! cheeky
