Week beginning September 4th.

We have all enjoyed coming back to school, despite the heat!

We have started to share our own ideas for Missions, begun our new RE topic (Ourselves), started a TTRS competition (I can't believe the speed of some of the boys!), played llawer o gemau yn Gymraeg (including outside, with the Welsh leaders) and begun to compile success criteria to improve our writing skills.

Everyone has been so enthusiastic and followed our golden rules - I'm not uses to being so generous with Dojo points.  Diolch yn fawr pawb, for making our first week back a good one.

Week beginning March 20th.

We have all started practising in our houses, for the Eistedfod. Not long to go...

Well being week - we worked together on different tasks, related to ourselves and how we view our self image. We also watched Lost and Found and discussed loneliness and friendship.
We also started reading The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe. We discussed the use of verbs and fantasy elements, which will help us in our next writing tasks.
Out new R.E. topic is Sacrifice. We talked about Passover and used babble gabble to help us remember and write a guide to Communion.
For maths, some of us have been working with 6 digit numbers - comparing amd subtracting. We also continued our work with decimal numbers.
For Italian, we continued practising the weather and months of the year and learnt about Carnivale.

Week beginning November 21st

For our missions this week, we have been independently learning about keeping safe online, demonstrating what we know about gravity and researching other religions.  Some of us shared our work with the class.

We have looked at mean, median, mode and range, ready to learn more.  We also have started looking at diary writing and using effective past tense verbs.

Our Welsh representatives helped choose the winners of the school poster competition.  A lot of fantastic entries to look at.  A very hard choice!

At the end of the week, we celebrated the Welsh national team, watching the football match against Iran.  Some of us got very excited!

Week beginning November 14th

Year 5 have been fantastic with the tests.  Diolch yn fawr to everyone who practised at home.  One more to go.  Like I have told everyone, as long as you take your time and try your best, everyone will be happy.

We have also been working on reading challenges, learning about Passover, reading Greek/Roman myths and designing Welsh posters, for a school competition.

Croeso yn ôl !

Gwaith ffantastig on your oracy homework.  I have enjoyed hearing about the variety of interests. After each presentation, we discussed what went well and how we could improve, in the future.

Thinking of the national tests, next week, we have been looking at different test questions.  Please keep practising at home, to get used to how the questions are set out.

We learnt to read an Italian poem, related to Rememberance Day.

We also looked at our new Big Question, for our new topic (Together,Stronger) - what could I do to be successful?

Last week of half term!

A busy final week, before the holidays.

We planned and acted out wedding ceremonies, thinking about promises and commitments.

For maths, we have continued looking at problem solving- if you haven't checked out last week's homework on this, please try some questions out.

Also, we have self assessed our animal poetry, before typing up a final version, began writing  persuasive letters and researched some of our independent question ideas, linked to space.

With Mr. Payne, we planned experiments, related to gravity and went outside, to test out our theories.

We also enjoyed marshmallows and chocolate biscuits, courtesy of Miss Davies, for forest schools.

October 10th - 14th

Blwyddyn pump had a fantastic time on their trip. Last minute change, to St. Fagan's.  We visited and learnt about the Victorian school and popped into the houses 'through the ages'.

For R.E., we are in the middle of our new topic, thinking about commitment and responsibility. For maths, we have also been reading 24hour clocks and calculating time intervals.

As part of our missions, we have been practising the song Yma o hyd. An impromptu class performance has inspired year 6 👏🏻😀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

October 3rd -7th

We had a fun filled week. We watched The Jungle Book on Monday, visited the local community Allotments and developed our rugby skills (diolch yn fawr to Fran and Claire).

We also wrote out newspaper articles, about the opening of our school, 50 years ago, and used metaphors and similes to develop our vocabulary and write animal themed poems.

For our Vision week, we wrote our own prayers, after looking at 3 different types of prayers. For Action, everyone thought of their own targets, to help them be successful. We also thought about the 50th anniversary of the school and planned newspaper articles, imagining we were writing about the opening of our school. We shared great ideas on what makes our school successful and why pupils would want to join our community.
