Diwedd o Mawrth a April / Ebrill

World Book Day

We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters.  We designed new book covers and conducted interviews, to find out more about what other people enjoy reading.

Sports at the University

Diolch enfawr to the sports students, for arranging a fun packed morning, building co-ordination and team skills.

Gwyddoniaeth

We used Minecraft, to develop our Science Skills - hunting down and learning about axolotols.

We also planted tomato seeds, to compare and contrast the rate of growth (from seeds soaked in advance and dry seeds).  It was fun, making a mess...

Llythrennedd (Literacy)

We have been thinking carefully about what it takes to plan a story.

1. First we enjoyed a walk around Treforest, looking at places of interest, for inspiration.   We used what we viewed, to develop our use of descriptive vocabulary.

2. Next, we wrote our story plans, paying attention to the characters, settings, how the story develops (conflicts) and how it ends (resolution).

3. We created story boards, to help give us a stronger idea of how the story will progress.

4.  Also, we have made 'puppets' from card, to help tell our stories visually.

5. After filming our short stories, we will use all this work to help us write exciting stories.

Working with our Reception class buddies

Year 5 worked excellently with the younger pupils, to write messages of hope for the local church community.  They also helped to teach them about the life cycle of daffodils.
